Check Enhanced Tracking Protection in Firefox

Firefox blocks many trackers already. Confirm it is on, and pick Standard or Strict.

4 steps

  1. Open Firefox settings

    Do this
Click the menu button (three lines) at the top right, then Settings.
    You should see
    A Settings tab opens.
    Undo or troubleshoot
Close the tab; nothing has changed yet.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security

    Do this
Choose Privacy & Security on the left and find Enhanced Tracking Protection.
    You should see
You see Standard, Strict and Custom.
    Undo or troubleshoot
If your device is managed by work or school, some settings may be locked; ask your administrator instead of trying to override them.
  3. Choose Standard or Strict

    Do this
Standard suits most people. Choose Strict if you accept that a few sites may break.
    You should see
Firefox asks you to reload tabs; the choice is now selected.
    Undo or troubleshoot
Select Standard again to go back to the default.
  4. Test the sites you rely on

    Do this
Open one site you sign in to, play a short video, and go to a shop's checkout page without paying. Reload each once.
    You should see
Sign-in, playback and the checkout page work as before.
    Undo or troubleshoot
If one site breaks, undo only the last change you made, or add an exception for that one site. Do not switch off all protection, and do not clear all cookies by default — that signs you out everywhere. For one broken site, click the shield icon in the address bar and turn protection off for that site only.
